Summer Sundays at St. Peter's
Dear Friends,
We have some exciting things coming up in our life at St. Peter's! This coming Sunday, we'll welcome our Bishop for his annual visit and celebrate St. Peter's Day. We will have services at 7:30, 9, and 11, with festivities beginning after the 11 o'clock service. We'll have food and activities and time just to hang out together!
Beginning July 4, and for the months of July and August, we'll move into a slightly different rhythm, which we're calling "Summer Sundays at St. Peter's." Here's what things will look like during these summer days:
We'll gather for worship at 7:30. This will be our standard early service, with Rite I language and no music. This service is always a wonderful, contemplative way to start a Sunday.
At 9:00 we'll offer a very simple breakfast snack with coffee in the Bracewell Room.
Around 9:30 we'll have Christian formation classes for all ages. I will lead a class for adults in the Bracewell Room, Lauren will lead a class for children in the lobby outside the school library, and Kelsey will lead a class for youth in the youth room. My class will be walking through some Old Testament scripture that doesn't always get talked about in our Sunday sermons. Lauren and Kelsey will offer classes to our children and youth that give them time to learn about who they are in Christ, and how God is calling them to follow the way of Jesus in their life.
At 10:30 we'll offer a combined worship service. This will take elements of our 9 o'clock and 11 o'clock services and blend them together. We will have music led by our choir, a children's homily, and a children's chapel during the sermon for children 6 and under. Our 10:30 service will be live streamed on our YouTube channel.
Nursery care will be available for children under 4 starting July 11 from 9 am - noon.
Our hope is that this summer schedule helps us all ease back into worship and life together. I know that summer is a time for rest, relaxation, travels, and weekends with family. I hope these activities continue for all of you! But, I also know that our life of worship, community, and formation has been a bit stunted over the last year.
The staff and I believe that these Summer Sundays at St. Peter's will help us back into a normal pattern of life together and worship as disciples of Jesus. Please let me know if you have any questions about this next phase in our common life.
God Bless,
Fr. Quinn+
