Opportunities for Service
Dear Friends,
As we close out the summer, I wanted to alert you to a few possibilities for service in our community:
Acolytes - The ministry of acolytes is of incredible importance to our life of worship. Acolytes assist the priest and deacon, ensuring that our worship runs smoothly. It is also a great way to be formed as a faithful worshiper of Jesus Christ, with the best seat in the house. In the fall we will be returning to our previous pattern of using three acolytes each Sunday. So, we need more acolytes! Children in 2nd grade and up are welcome to join this ministry. Kelsey Aebi will hold a training session to induct new acolytes into the Sacred Order of Acolytes this Sunday evening from 5 to 7 pm. If you have questions about the training, please email her at kelseyaebi@stpeters.org.
Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors - We will train Eucharistic Ministers, those who assist the priest and deacon in distributing communion, and Lectors, those who read the lessons, on Saturday, August 28, at noon. If you are interested in serving in either capacity or in getting a "refresher course," on those ministries, please plan to join us!
Vestry - We will elect three new Vestry members at our annual meeting in November. If you are interested in assisting with the governance of our church, please be in touch with me. The requirements are that you are an adult who is confirmed, regular in worship, and contributing to the church. The nominating committee is seeking candidates now, so be in touch if you are interested!
God Bless,
Fr. Quinn+
