Lenten Update
Dear Friends,
As we begin the season of Lent, I want to make sure you're aware of a few things going on in the life of our community. First, I want to share with you our new COVID protocols, which take effect this Sunday:
Our mask requirement remains in place for our 7:30 a.m. service until there is less viral spread in our community.
All other gatherings and worship services will become mask-optional.
We continue to believe that widespread vaccination gives our community the best chance of remaining healthy at this point in the pandemic.
We encourage those who are in high risk categories and those who are very anxious about COVID either to come to our 7:30 service or to invest in high quality masks. Specifically, we would encourage you to find KN-95 and N-95 masks as opposed to the commonly used cloth masks.
These are likely not the final guideline changes, and we will remain responsive to the situation on the ground.
Second, I want you all to know of two educational offerings that are coming our way for Lent:
"Remember You Are Dust" is a series on death, dying, and Christian discipleship. We'll gather at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday from March 13 to April 3 to discuss the Christian theology of death; artistic, musical, and poetic reflections on death; liturgies of death and dying; and medical and financial planning for the end of life. I hope you'll join us for these important conversations.
Confirmation Class begins on March 13 after our 10:30 a.m. service. If you are 16 or older and would like to attend, please be in touch with Fr. Quinn!
Finally, we have some great events for youth and children coming up:
On Saturday, March 19, we'll gather for a "field day" up on the track from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided. This is for children in Pre-K to 5th grade, and youth group members are invited to come help out. We also need a few folks to help with set up, clean up, and crowd control. Please be in touch with laurenabbott@stpeters.org if your child will be there, or if you'd like to volunteer!
On Sunday, March 20, all youth group members, including 5th graders who will be moving into the youth group, are invited to attend a meeting at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. While they are there, youth group parents are invited to my house for dinner and a chance to discuss the future of the youth group. Please contact quinnparman@stpeters.org if you plan to be there.
This will be a wonderful Lent at St. Peter's. We hope you'll engage fully in what we are offering as we spend time in prayer and fasting with the Lord.
Grace and Peace,
Fr. Quinn+
